The Greater Pittston Historical Society will host “Pittston History Day” from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at Pittston City Fire headquarters.

The community is urged to bring stories, artifacts and pictures of iconic buildings or historical places in Pittston, or events in the city like parades, social gatherings, school-related activities, etc. The pictures will be digitally preserved or may be donated to the Greater Pittston Historical Society.

The event will feature a large exhibition of relics and photographs from Bone Stadium, American Theatre, Pittston Stove Works, Glennon Brewery, Howell and King Brewery, Chief of Police Joe Delaney, The Welsh Baptist Church, City Hall, Pittston Cemetery, Pittston High School and more.

Participants will learn about Greater Pittston Historical Society preservation projects and equipment used to save history.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to tour the historic firehouse, see artifacts from local area digs presented by the Frances Dorrance Chapter of Pennsylvania Archaeological Society, and meet the Merry Widows and their intriguing display of rarities from the history of the funeral business.
