Members: Mr. Michael Augello, Chairman Mr. Vernon Jones Mr. James Serino Mr. Charles Barone, Alternate Member Solictitor: Mark Bufalino, Esq. ________________________________________ The Zoning Hearing Board conducts public hearings related to the City of Pittston Zoning Ordinance that is enforced by the Zoning Officer. The Zoning Hearing Board hears appeals from decisions of the Zoning Officer, and, after considering testimony at public hearings, can grant "variances" and "special exceptions" to requirements of the Zoning Ordinance in accordance with the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance. The Zoning Hearing Board is comprised of three members and an alternate who participates in decisions where a board member cannot attend or recuses themselves. The Board is assisted in its functions by the Zoning Officer, the Zoning Hearing Board Solicitor, and a Standing Commissioner who takes transcriptions of all hearings. There is a fee of $250.00 for a residential zoning hearing and $300.00 for a commercial zoning hearing. Applications for a zoning hearing may be obtained from the Administration Department at City Hall during normal business hours. ------------------ Meetings of the Zoning Hearing Board are scheduled as needed based on filed appeals. The Pittston City Zoning Hearing Board will conduct a public hearing on Monday June 10, 2013 at 5:00pm in the first floor meeting room at Pittston City Hall to hear the request of Michael Gubitoso for variances for construction of a single family home at 159 Seneca Street. An existing fire-damaged structure will be razed and the proposed new dwelling requires a variance for required front yard and side yard setbacks.
