    The Civil Service Commission for the City of Pittston is now accepting applications to take the civil service examination for Entry-Level Firefighter in the Bureau of Fire.   • PART-TIME POLICE OFFICER

    The City of Pittston is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Police Officer. Applicants must have Act 120 certification and a valid PA driver’s license.   • Part-Time Laborer—Streets & Sanitation

    The City of Pittston is accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Seasonal Laborer for the Departments of Streets & Sanitation. Hours variable but typically begin at 7:00am Monday-Friday at an hourly rate of $13.65.

    Duties include, but are not limited to: garbage and recycling collection; leaf collection; snow removal; repair and maintenance of roadways, street signs and sanitary/storm sewers; vehicle maintenance; parks & public property. Applicants must be able to pick up 50lbs, work outdoors in all types of weather, and demonstrate experience in working safely in traffic and around heavy equipment.

  • Part-Time Pittston Parking Authority Parking Ambassador

    The Pittston Parking Authority is seeking a Part Time Parking Ambassador.

    The City of Pittston Parking Authority is currently seeking an out-going and energetic candidate for Parking Ambassador. The Parking Ambassador will perform a variety of duties related to the enforcement of City of Pittston parking ordinances. The position is also responsible for assisting customers and maintaining parking equipment. Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude. Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures, but must also be able to carry out directions.

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Provide customer service by answering questions regarding directions, events, building locations and parking policies.
    • Issue citations and warnings for non-compliance with a computerized hand held computer or manual tickets.
    • This position requires the ability to work alone and therefore must exercise proper judgement, tact and diplomacy dealing with people.
    • Assist maintenance staff with duties related to parking equipment upkeep and maintenance. This includes, but is not limited to: inspecting and assessing lots for maintenance issues, cleaning and repairing parking meters and pay stations, installing signs, sign posts and meter posts.
    • Collect and secure all monies received through parking meters and pay stations and deposit the receipts in the appropriate bank account(s).
    • Assist maintenance staff with activities related to parking for events. This includes, but is not limited to: no parking signs and meter covers.
    • Other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two or more years of customer service or parking enforcement experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. Must pass a physical and drug test.

  • Part Time Property Maintenance Officer

    HOURS:

    20-25 hours per week. Weekends and Evenings shall be required.

     

    SALARY:

    $12-15 per hour (commensurate with experience)

     

    DUTIES:

    1. Enforcement of the International Property Maintenance Code and City ordinances (Quality of Life)
    2. Rental property inspections
    • Prepare inspection reports
    • Compile weekly and monthly reports indicating quantity of inspections performed, number of violations found and status of corrections to violations.
    1. Investigate constituent and/or official complaints and prepare any necessary warnings, tickets, notices of violations, citations, etc.
    2. File prosecution with District Judge if violations are not corrected and attend court hearings as necessary.
    3. Participate in Neighborhood Action Team Sweeps
    4. Work with the Code Enforcement/Zoning Officer, City Police, City Fire and Administration.
    5. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Office of Community Development.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Valid Pennsylvania Drivers’ License
    2. High School Diploma or equivalent
    3. Ability to understand and carry out written and/or oral instructions.
    4. Ability to work with the public efficiently, properly and pleasantly under all circumstances.
    5. Must be able to work with residents/homeowners; interpreting pertinent sections of codes firmly, tactfully and impartially.
    6. Strong computer skills.
    7. Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
    8. Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds.

    10. 10.Construction experience desired.
    11. Must obtain ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification within one year of employment.
